Been a while

HI there everyone...sorry it has been a while...I thought I would give you all an update...
I was busy student teaching this past spring and early summer. I spent 13 weeks teaching 8th and 9th grade English at Kittitas Secondary School. I had a wonderful master teacher and I had a great experience. Olivia and I then headed to California for 5 weeks so that I could student teach at Foothill High School summer school. I ended up with only one 3 hour period of 9th graders. This was an amazing experience working with a difficult population of students. It really confirmed that I love working with freshmen!
So here I am back in Washington with Chris and I am just staying home for now. Once I get my credential transferred over to a WA credential, I am hoping to substitute teach a couple days a week next school year! Right now I am enjoying staying home with Olivia.
Speaking of my beautiful baby girl...she has changed so much these past couple of months. She is now beginning to talk..she says mama, dada, papa (my dad), Jada (our dog), bye bye, stop (usually to the dog), and her own version of all done (it sounds like ah-duh). She stands pretty well on her own and will take one step, but she knows she can move a lot faster if she crawls!
Our weekends are booking up with camping trips, weddings and birthday parties...so there are a lot of pictures and updates to come!

Christmas

Olivia's first Christmas was awesome! We headed to Cove, OR to spend the holiday with some of Chris' family. The weather was snowy but we got into Cove on Christmas Eve. We spent Christmas opening gifts and playing games. We headed to Tri-Cities on Sat. and barely made it out of Cove before they closed the roads. There was so much blowing and drifting snow. We had a wonderful visit with Chris' uncle and his brother and then we headed home on Sunday. Olivia is four months old now and she has been growing and growing. She has become very vocal and she can roll over too. When we returned from Christmas, she started eating real food. She started with rice cereal and has moved on to peas. She wasn't sure she liked them at first, but I think she is aquiring a taste for them!

October has come and gone

So alot has been going on this past month. On Ocotber 12th Olivia went to her first NFL game. She was able to see the Seahawks play the Packers...and she loved it so much, she slept through the whole game!!! The next weekend we headed to Cove for the Thew Ciderfest 08. We had a great time with family and friends and Olivia had a great time as well. The weekend of the 25th we had some friends in town from Corvallis. We went to a CWU football game, the pumpkin patch and we had Olivia dedicated at Church. It was a wonderful weekend. For Halloween, Olivia was a strawberry. We only trick or treated a couple of places because daddy had to work a football game out of town. Olivia also had a doctor appointment that day and we found out she weighed 12 lbs 12 oz. She is growing so fast. Novemeber will be a little less busy for us, but we are excited that we will get to see both our families over Thanksgiving week.

Olivia arrived

Sorry that I haven't updated this in a while...but for those of you who haven't been keeping up...Olivia Nicole Thew arrived on August 26th at 12:44 pm. She was 7 lbs 13 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long. She was still breech so I had to have a c-section. We are so excited to have such a wonderful baby. She is sleeping about 6 consecutive hours at night (which mommy and daddy appreciate)...and she is just wonderful. I hope you enjoy some of her pictures...I will post more soon!

Olivia is coming soon!!!

Well in case you hadn't heard, Olivia is a very stubborn little girl. She has decided that she likes to hang out upside down...she is still breech. We tried an inversion, and the doctor wasn't able to get her to turn! So this last Tues. we scheduled a C-section for Tues. 8/26 at noon.

I have been having contractions as frequently as 4 minutes apart for the past week...and on Wed. I woke up with some labor pains, if by chance I go into labor before Tues. they will go ahead and remove her early.

Chris and I are both very excited to finally meet our little girl...and we will post some pictures as soon as I feel up to it! Here is a picture we took at 38 weeks...one more week to go!!!

Alomost parents

The past month has been very busy for Chris and I. We went to Corvallis for 4th of July, my freind Lori got married on the 12th...and then we went to Fish Lake with a crew of the Thews on the weekend of the 26th. I have attached a photo from Fish Lake. We had a great time, it was short, but we are happy we were able to go at all this year!

We are 37 weeks pregnant this week...and we found out last week that Olivia is still hanging out the wrong way. The Doctor said it is unlikely she will be able turn on her own, so on Wed 8/13 we are having an Inversion. This is where the doc will try to manually turn her from the outside...now I am not completely sure how this works, but I have heard that they will inject me with a muscle relaxer to relax my stomach muscles...giving them a better chance at turning her. If there are any complications...(which they always tell you there can be)...they will take her via c-section that night. There is still a chance, she won't turn and I will have to schedule a c-section later anyways...but we will just keep it one day at a time. I have attached some pics we took this last weekend...boy am I feeling huge...and I am ready for Olivia to finally be here!
Football at Ellensburg HS starts on Aug. 20th...and Chris cannot wait. He loves working with his athletes and has been preparing his training room for the season.

We will try to keep everyone posted on how things are going over the next week or so...

Shower and Fourth of July

Chris' aunt Kathy and cousin Jenny threw us a wonderful baby shower in Cove on June 28th. We had a wonderful time with friends and family during the weekend...and we received tons of great stuff for Olivia. Now I am stuck with the task of putting it all away! :)

Hope you enjoy some of the pictures I put up.

For the Fourth of July weekend we headed to Corvallis to visit some friends. We had a BBQ and had a day planned at the beach...well you know the Oregon Coast...it was freezing that day. Just my luck...I haven't been to the beach in 5 years and the one day it is terrible weather that week, is the one day we were there. But it wasn't a complete bust, Chris did some fishing and crabbing and I went shopping in Lincoln City with the girls...and Olivia was spoiled even more!

The next couple of weekends are packed as well...we have a wedding in Boardman on the 12th and we are hoping to go to Fish Lake with Chris family as well. We will have to wait on that to get a pass from the doctor. Should be tons of fun. Only about 8 more weeks until Olivia is due and we are both getting super excited!
